On June 4 the California Air Resources Board announced that it is changing its grant allocations under its Cap and Invest program to eliminate some $ 600 million that was slated to go to transit agencies around the state of California. Of that amount $ 200 million was for Muni projects such as free and reduced fares for students and seniors, upgrading the train control system and speed and reliability improvements on the N and K lines. Transit advocates are hoping that the state legislature might overturn the decision.
